The swimming calendar generally starts in September and ends in August and runs as follows:
September 1-December 31 | Short Course Meters Season
Loveland Masters swims in a short course yards pool, as such this season has no real significance for our group. Swimmers who participate in short course meters events are eligible for national as well as international recognition. Participation in any short course meters swim meet earns a swimmer 10 participation point towards becoming a Loveland Masters All Star.
September 15-November 15 | 3000/6000 e-Postal Swim
This annual event allows all Loveland Masters to swim in the friendly confines of Mountain View Aquatic Center, and then submit the results via an online entry, In the past years our participation in this event has pushed the Colorado Masters Club to a higher ranking. In the Fall of 2017, Loveland Masters will be hosting this event.
November 15-December 31 | Brute Squad
Each December we offer members the challenge of swimming the three most difficult events in swimming, during one practice session. Those events are the 200 Butterfly, the 400 Individual Medley, and the 1650 Freestyle. Members are encouraged to work with their lane mates to determine the order in which the three events are to be swum, and how much rest between each event.
January 1–End of April | Short Course Yards Season
This is the part of the year where many of the meets are offered, including the Sweetheart meet. Loveland Masters plans practice sessions for members to peak in their performance at the COMSA state championships usually held early April, or to peak at the USMS National Championships held in late April or early May.
January or February | Sweetheart Swim Meet
Loveland Masters has been hosting this meet since the late 70s. Approximately 100 swimmers from all over the region travel to Loveland to participate in this half day meet. As hosts, LMSC is responsible for running all portions of the meet from entries and data collection to timers, meet safety and hospitality. Loveland Masters has a great reputation for putting on a fun and well run meet, as such we ask that all LMSC members participate by swimming and/or assisting with meet administration.
May 1-August 30 | Open Water and Long Course Season
Time of the year when many open water swims and triathlon events happen, in addition to pools being set up for long course (50 meter) swimming.
