More than one-third of adults in the United States can’t swim the length of a pool, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. About 10 people drown every day, the majority of them adults. Research shows the children of adults who don’t know how to swim are at a greater risk of not learning to swim, which increases their chances of drowning.

Terry King I learned to swim as a child and have loved it ever since. As an adult, I was thrilled when I found Loveland Masters swimming. I swim three mornings a week and in the lake and ocean every chance I get. I feel peaceful in the water. Swimming is one of the least stressful forms of exercise. I look forward to teaching other adults to feel safe in the water.
Debbie Buehler I learned to swim at age 57 after a near drowning incident as a child. Learning to swim was the most difficult, yet most rewarding accomplishment of my life. I will never forget the feeling of empowerment when I made it across the pool! I am passionate about offering to other nonswimmers an opportunity to learn swimming skills and to become comfortable and confident in the water.
Doug Garcia I have been coaching Masters Swimming for more than 20 years. In that time, I have seen people with little to no swimming skills go on to participate in pool and open water swims. I take great pride in helping all swimmers improve their technique and confidence in the water.
